Orphanage Partners
Rice
Bowls' vision is to equip orphanages around the world to care for the
physical and spiritual needs of children. Funds from your Rice Bowl
campaign are used to provide food for these children. Faith-based
facilities, such as these, provide environments where children can
grow, thrive, and learn.

Playing at the Zoo
While a Rice Bowls team was visiting several of our Orphanage Partners in Bangalore, India, we got to join about 40 kids, including Barnabas at the zoo. We saw cobras, white tigers, and lots of monkeys. For many of these children, this trip across town was one of the first times they had left their neighborhood. Barnabas is almost 12. He was born in a slum and abandoned in pile of trash, before coming to one of Rice Bowls Orphanage Partners. Some physical disabilities that make him small for his age. His fingers and toes are malformed, but he doesn’t let that stand in his way. He loves to play guitar and paint. Since coming to the home, he has been treated for tuberculosis. Now, he is doing great.
The funds you raise with Rice Bowls buy food for Barnabas and hundreds of other children. Thanks to you, he eats three quality meals per day.

Hearing and Hope
Meet Ganga, from Bangalore in southern India. She is 4 years old and in her first year of school. Ganga lives at Violet Children’s Home, along with her sister Velanagani, who is 6 years old. Their mother passed away. Then, the girls were abandoned by their father who was an alcoholic. Ganga has an ear condition that could have caused her to loose hearing. But since arriving at Violet Children's Home, she is receiving medical treatment, along with an education, nutritious meals, and consistent, loving care.
Please join us in prayer for Ganga, her hearing, and her promising future. In addition, please pray for Violet Children’s Home. This Christian orphanage is seeking a safer location. Presently, they are located in a very small building, next to a slum. Thanks to your support through Rice Bowls, this orphanage has been able to move to a better location that can care for more of India's orphans.

Teenagers Born into a Family
In 2008, Jonathan
and Job came to the Joining Hands family in South
Africa. They are children of immigrants in a nation torn apart by
violence against foreigners. Their father is reportedly back in jail,
in the Congo, for smuggling. Their step-mother is reportedly in a
refuge camp. Neither parent has shown concern for the boys.
These
two young teenagers found themselves near a church in Johannesburg.
This same inner-city church is home to a weekly ministry lead by
Joining Hands director, Linda van Dyk. Since meeting Linda, Jonathan
and Job have a home, food, and are attending school, through Joining
Hands, a Rice Bowls Orphanage Partner. As van Dyk reflects, these boys
are making the most of their new opportunities. “They are very clever
kids and quite keen to get on with their lives!” |
